The newly ordained deacon Dmitry (Ismagilov), serving our Cathedral of St George in London, visited St Aidan's the weekend after his ordination on 1st October 2023. The purpose of his visit was to conduct post doctoral (UCL, London) research on finance in the Orthodox Church, with particular reference to our Antiochian Archdiocese. After meeting with Fr Gregory on Saturday afternoon, Deacon Dmitry had an extended session with the Parish Council after the Divine Liturgy on Sunday. A significant part of his engagement with the community focussed on the Thanksgiving Project method of integrating Christian giving within Christian prayer and discipleship. Deacon Dmitry will take up the newly created post of Archdiocesan Finance Officer in January 2024 after his research concludes.
